Build PR delivered AMDEA’s Repair before Replace PR campaign, turning consumer research into national headlines, BBC television coverage and regional radio interviews. Our campaign put a practical message at the heart of the story: before buying a replacement appliance, check whether the one you already own can be repaired.

The results

•       29 pieces of national coverage across TV, radio, print, online and social media.

•       19 print, online and social items, alongside 10 broadcast items.

•       137 million combined outlet-level audience

•       15.7 million combined broadcast audience

•       100% positive sentiment across the recorded coverage

The challenge

AMDEA, the UK home appliance association, wanted householders to think differently about faulty appliances. We polled 2,000 consumers who revealed that seven in ten had ignored appliance warning signs. Two-thirds had considered replacing an appliance at the first sign of trouble, while only 11% contacted a repair engineer first.

The brief was to make repair part of the conversation, position AMDEA and its members as a trusted industry voice, and take the message to householders through national and regional media.

Our approach

We built the media story around a clear consumer issue: households could be considering replacement before exploring repair. The research gave journalists a strong news hook; the advice gave readers and viewers something useful to do next.

The message was straightforward: pause, check the warranty, contact the manufacturer and explore repair options before buying new. Consumer journalist Alice Beer, ITV This Morning’s Consumer Editor, supported the campaign, bringing a familiar voice to the advice.

Launched on 21 October 2026, Build PR's campaign connected AMDEA’s industry expertise with a household concern that mattered to news, money and consumer audiences. It combined national press and online coverage with television, regional radio and social advocacy.

We turned AMDEA’s research and repair advice into a media story with national visibility and clear consumer relevance. BBC coverage, national headlines and regional interviews gave AMDEA a platform to explain why repair should be considered before replacement and demonstrated Build PR’s ability to connect an industry message with everyday household decisions.
